Journal: 20-10-11

In todays lesson we began a production plan...... then our plan fell apart.

We started to write down all the possible problems there are with our idea and there was just too many!

-Financial costs
-Cost of the props
-Weather issues
-Closure of pier
-Closure of attractions
-Closure of the beach
-People not turning up/being able to make dates
-Transport concerns
-Having the time to go and carry out possible re-shoots
-Not being able to film in certain locations

So, we decided to back to the drawing board and think of a new concept.

This week we started to think of lots of different ideas that we could include into our music video. We also started to storyboard. However, we feel that we cannot start storyboarding properly as we have so many different elements we want to add into our music video. So we decided to start to write out all the events we wanted to happen in the order we wanted them to happen. We also wrote a prop list so we are organised early so we can get them all in time. We are planning to go to Brighton one day before we film so we can see all the different places we want to film before actually filming. As we also want to add in time lapse to our music video we may film this then as it will take a long time.

In todays lesson we was introduced into Digipaks. We started to research into them as they are apart of our brief and we need to produce one to enable us to complete the course. A Digipak is a foldable CD container. The things you will find on a Digipak would be: the artist name, album name, lots of pictures that connote the artists image, a front back and spine, barcode, copyright info, institution logo, a DVD logo and of corse the song names. The reason people might decide to buy a Digipak instead of a normal CD case would be that they feel they are getting more as normally there is a foldable book inside giving more information. It also give a "cooler" edge to buying a CD as it is not that popular yet.
Example of a Digipak above ^^

We have started to analyse some Digipaks of our own and we also have to analyse some promotional posters for artists.

Our Mood Board

Here is our mood board that we created on fridays lesson. It shows how we want our music video to be. We decided to make the video in the style of the 1920s, so we want to make it look quite old, so we will put a film over the video. The location we want to film at is Brighton Beach. We decided this because we really want to film on the beach and thought that we could use the typical 1920s swimsuits as one of our costumes. We also want to use time lapse as we feel that it will give it fun feel. One of our ideas for time lapse is to film the journey to Brighton from our friends camper van. We want to show the journey but don't want it to take up too much time so time lapse would be a good idea. Other costumes we want to incorporate would be floral dresses and the boys in jeans and stripy tops, we think this will give a real feel of the 1920s era.
